Algebra Touch: 2020
I spent this year re-investing in Algebra Touch to completely remake it for iOS, and to pursue a module-based structure rather than strive for a universal interface.
I used to believe a universal interface for algebra gestures was ideal, but no longer. There are too many concepts. Besides, people don’t approach math in their heads with a universal interface anyways. They use whatever model of understanding that fits the situation.
And there's something that struck me that’s very curious: I suspect that what goes on in every man's head might be very very different. The actual imagery or semi-imagery which comes, and that when we’re talking to each other at these high and complicated levels, and we think we are speaking very well, and we’re communicating, but what we are really doing is having a some kind of big translation scheme going on, for translating what this fellow says into our images, which are very different.

I hope to make Algebra Touch full of many different models of understanding. With this new approach, we’re no longer stuck supporting every old gesture, and it will be easier to come out with new content. We already have some fun ideas for Factoring Polynomials and Quadratics and Logarithms (one was submitted by a teacher) for later this year.
It’s been split into 2 versions.
All ages version is free with in-app purchases to unlock more content: App Store Link
EDU version is paid up front and supports ClassKit integration for Apple’s Schoolwork app: App Store Link
Thank you for your support over the years!
I hope you love this new version, but regardless, you can continue using your current version as is.
Cheers,
